About Us
Jake Jass, head trainer and partner in Chasin’ Tail Ranch, has been professionally training horses for two years, and has been in the horse industry for five years. Before Chasin’ Tail opened its doors in 2005, he worked as a wrangler for a ranch in the Gallatin National forest in Montana, and served as an assistant trainer for Eric Kobernusz in Scottsdale, AZ. He also served in the Army National Guard for six years and was deployed two times, one of those deployments including a year long tour in Iraq. Since returning from Iraq he has finished his contract with the Guards and has been back in the saddle full time, training both Chasin’ Tail horses and outside horses.
This year Jake has begun competing in reining competitions in both AQHA and NRHA events.

Thad Stofferahn, the breeding manager and partner in Chasin’ Tail Ranch, purchased his first broodmare in 2003. Since then he has been selectively purchasing and breeding horses to enhance the disposition, conformation, and bloodlines of Chasin’ Tail Ranch horses. A graduate of USD in 2000 with a degree in Business Management he continues to work on his family farm and seed company in addition to his commitment to Chasin’ Tail.
